Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SpeakToCode desktop application and speaktocode.ai website (the "Service") provided by UseKase Pte. Ltd., a company incorporated in Singapore ("UseKase," "we," "our," or "us").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

SpeakToCode is a desktop application for Windows that provides voice-to-text dictation using local AI transcription. The Service includes:

  • The SpeakToCode desktop application
  • The speaktocode.ai website and web dashboard
  • Cloud sync features (optional)
  • Customer support

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Free Trial

  • Every new account receives a 15-day free trial of the Pro plan, starting when you create the account.
  • No credit card is required to start or use the trial.
  • The trial does not convert into a paid subscription automatically. When it ends, your account moves to the Free plan unless you choose to subscribe.
  • Trials are offered once per user. We may decline to issue a trial where we reasonably believe the offer is being abused.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Current pricing is listed on our pricing page. We will give at least 30 days' notice before any price change takes effect for existing subscribers.
  • Plans: Free (no charge), Pro ($10/month or $96/year, 1 seat), and Team (5 seats, priced on request). A free tier will always be available.
  • The Free plan includes up to 2,000 transcribed words per calendar month, the Tiny and Base speech models, and no cloud sync. The Pro plan includes up to 10,000 transcribed words per calendar month, all speech models, and cloud sync.
  • Usage allowances reset at the start of each calendar month. We may adjust plan allowances or included features, and will give at least 30 days' notice before any change that reduces what your current plan includes.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled before that period ends.
  • You may cancel at any time from your account settings or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.
  • Refunds are available within 14 days of an initial purchase. Renewals are not refundable, but you may cancel to prevent the next renewal.
  • If a payment fails, we may suspend Pro features until the balance is settled. Your account and data remain intact during suspension; deletion occurs only on account closure, as described in section 12.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the desktop application
  • Distribute, sublicense, or resell the Service
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits or licensing restrictions
  • Use the Service to process audio content you do not have the right to process
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure

6. Intellectual Property

  • SpeakToCode and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by UseKase and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
  • The SpeakToCode logo, name, and brand assets are trademarks of UseKase.
  • You retain all rights to your transcription content. We do not claim ownership of text you generate using the Service.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services:

  • Whisper AI: Open-source speech recognition by OpenAI, running locally on your device.
  • Google/GitHub OAuth: For authentication. Subject to their respective terms.
  • Stripe: For payment processing. Subject to Stripe's terms of service.
  • Sentry: For error monitoring. See our Privacy Policy for what is and is not sent.
  • Resend: For delivering messages you send us through our contact, feedback, and bug report forms.

We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy at https://speaktocode.ai/privacy, which describes how we collect and use your information.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Transcription results will be 100% accurate
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, USEKASE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UseKase from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

  • You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or through your account settings.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
  • We will delete your data within 30 days of account closure, except as required by law.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or notice on our website at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law provisions. The courts of Singapore shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and UseKase regarding the Service.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights without our consent. We may assign our rights without restriction.
